Crowdfunding

A form of raising capital for an issuer or a project that involves using internet-based solicitations. A crowdfunding may not involve the sale of security. Instead, an “investor” may contribute to fund a specific project or business and receive a gift of merchandise or a small token of recognition. When the issuer offers securities, the offering must be made in compliance with federal and/or state securities exemptions, which may include Regulation Crowdfunding, or CF.
