FNMA
Federal National Mortgage Association (a/k/a Fannie Mae). FNMA is a U.S. government sponsored entity (GSE) that purchases mortgage loans from lenders and issues and guarantees mortgage-backed securities (MBS). FNMA was placed into federal conservatorship in 2008 pursuant to HERA.
