Passporting

The term used under EU financial regulation whereby the authorization of an entity to provide services or activities in one EU member state, gives the right for those services or activities to be carried on in other EU member states without the requirement for separate authorization to be obtained. The terms on which passporting can apply will vary depending upon the terms of the relevant EU regulation or directive.
