Shadow Banking

The “shadow banking” sector has been a key area of regulatory focus since the financial crisis and is now more often referred to as non-bank financial intermediation. The FSB has spearheaded the regulatory approach to shadow banking and has focused on non-bank intermediation, which it regards as credit intermediation involving entities and activities fully or partially outside the regular banking system.
