European Banking Authority. The EBA is an independent EU authority which works to ensure effective and consistent prudential regulation and supervision across the European banking sector. Its functions include seeking to maintain financial stability in the EU and to safeguard the integrity, efficiency, and orderly functioning of the banking sector. It is also mandated to work in conjunction with national competent authorities in the EEA to seek to safeguard values, including the stability of the financial system, the transparency of markets and financial products, and the protection of depositors and investors.
