OTS

Office of Thrift Supervision. The OTS was a US government agency within UST responsible for chartering federal savings associations and savings banks, as well as for regulating federal and state savings associations and savings banks and savings and loan holding companies (SLHCs). Section 312 of the DFA mandated the transfer of OTS functions to the OCC, the FDIC, the FRB, and the CFPB. The OTS ceased to exist on October 19, 2011.
