SRO

Self-regulatory organization. Generally, references to an SRO refer to FINRA, which is the successor to the National Association of Securities Dealers, or NASD. The SEC has delegated to FINRA authority to directly regulate broker-dealers and their associated persons, including licensing, examining, and disciplining them.
